It look me an hour and 16 minutes, but I actually ran a real 10k without dying - Best run ever! Thanks to Adam and Ang for running it with me (and to Mir for joining us at brunch after)!
halfway through a phone call with my mom
mom: are you dating anyone now?
…five minutes later…
mom: (out of nowwhere – we were talking about groceries) …are you happy?
me: yeah I guess so….
mom: Do your friends have my home phone number?
mom: Well I want to be sure they know to call me in case you get shot on the subway like that guy.
I was going to try to be extra good today, because tomorrow is the start of week 2 in The Weight Loss Challenge.Anyways it all started off pretty well and then my friend Ian asked if I wanted to run some errands with him downtown. We ended up stopping in at Craft Burgers at Yonge/Bloor for a SUPER DELICIOUS cheeseburger with fries and onion rings….
They were soooo good I didn’t even regret the transgression, and by dinner time I figured I could save the day by having a small dinner of veggie stir fry with chicken and brown rice. YAY.
About 20 minutes later things took a turn for the worse as I got a major craving while watching Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle on IFC. By the time they finally made it to White Castle (which I’ve never been to, but it looks disgusting) I had a pile of shame lying on the floor beside the couch. SHAAAAME:
Some resolutions for 2009.
1. Deny that I have any resolutions. This way friends/co-workers don’t need to know when i’m quitting.
2. Lose 10 lbs. Haaaaaa….
3. Take a language class. I’m thinking Japanese, or Portuguese.
4. Have people over more often. This way I can justify the expense of my new couch and the rest of the things I want to buy in Jan.
5. Take an MBA class. Because I need a new job
6. Sign up for Salsa class. Another class….I know, I know.
7. Travel. Brazil?
8. Run. 10k
So I thought I would have to stop halfway through, and in the last 100 metres I thought that my heart was going to explode, BUT…My first 5k was great! I ended up finishing it alive, and with only two 1 minute walking breaks. I’m looking forward to making some improvements and maybe doing to 10K next year.
I finished 811 out of 2947 by finishing in 31:10.7 minutes. Yippee!
